Dear Grace Community of Faith,

We are hoping you remain safe and well. We are very excited that we have been able to be open for in-person gathering since August 29. Understandably, everyone is approaching decision making to participate in the community with care and caution. We appreciate and respect your prayerful discernment. Whether you join us in person or virtually for worship, we are so grateful for your participation. All those taking part in worship each Sunday, are grateful to be able to prepare and share in this service.

On August 17, 2021, the Board of Management of Grace United Church, voted to implement a vaccination and mask policy, to go into effect October 1, 2021. We are committed to providing a safe working environment for our employees, our congregation, and members of our community with whom we interact. The purpose of the Vaccination and Mask Policy (the “Policy”) is to provide guidelines pertaining to the expectations and requirements of all who enter the building with respect to COVID-19.

In our day-to-day site operations, we have a responsibility to protect all workers and the community in which we operate. It is vital that Grace United Church and its staff take any and all precautions to protect against COVID-19. A mandatory policy requiring congregants to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to attend in-person is acceptable since our Community of Faith has an obligation to keep employees, congregants, and other visitors as safe as possible. In addition, appropriate mask, physical distancing and hand hygiene practices as identified by the Ministry of Health will be enforced.

This Policy applies to all church employees, congregation members, contractors, visitors, and any other individuals volunteering or using Grace United Church in any capacity.

Please bring your proof of vaccination when you come to Grace. Once seen, you should not need to present it again as it will be recorded that proof has been seen. This policy is a working document, following Peterborough Public Health and provincial guidelines which may change.

Kevin and Sharon will continue to work primarily from home, connecting by phone, text, email, zoom or other communication platforms outside of our Sunday morning worship, to assure safety and support those who are vulnerable. Please reach out to us with questions or concerns. We look forward to continuing to work together. Respectfully,

George ( Board of Management Chair)

Kevin (Minister of Youth, Young Families and Community Outreach)

Sharon (Intentional Interim Minister)
