Hello Grace,
Did you miss February 28,worship and annual meeting?

Grace United Church YouTube Channel (lists all services):
Lenten Greetings:
Be encouraged and hope filled as we continue to find our way. Keep noticing God’s presence! We cannot embrace each other but we can embrace God and we can embrace hope! You are managing to get through all these turbulent times. I continue to work from home as directed by public health, directing all work to be done at home where possible. Please phone, text, or email and if you would like to Zoom, WhatsApp, or Facetime, we can connect.
We are grateful we have made it to March and are experiencing the beginnings of signs of spring, hopefully ice and snow melting and warming and lengthening of days to lift spirits. If you have not tried Zoom or have had issues in the past, perhaps you might like to give it a try. I am happy to do a practice with you. If you have a Canada long distance plan, you may want to consider telephoning in and joining a Zoom meeting that way. We can explore options. God is with us and we will stay resilient! Keep connecting with others as we get through this together.

Difficult situations for Peterborough as numbers of COVID-19 keep climbing. I am sharing information from Bruce Coulter, chair of the Grace Re-opening Team, who is so diligently monitoring our situation.
Bruce writes:
"Our numbers have jumped drastically because of the party at Fleming. Tonight (Thursday, March 4th) we are at 76 cases and 1 confirmed case of the variant of concern (VOC) and 43 presumed cases of VOC. Here is the link to the local COVID-19 tracker numbers  https://localcovidtracker.ca/  … all staff work from home as much as possible. We can still live stream the services as long as all are comfortable. We need to be prepared to go to prerecorded services at any given time. It is being suggested we limit singers and no wind instruments."

On Friday March 5, 2021, all places of worship have been notified by Peterborough Public Health that Peterborough is being moved from its yellow zone to red control zone.

I realize sharing this update is ahead of our Board meeting on the 16th, but we want to keep you as in the know as possible. Previous to the Trent daycare situation in Buckhorn and the student outbreak from Trent/SSFC we were in yellow zone which was encouraging. We are also sensitive to both COVID’s regular strain, which was more than enough, and now the presence of the variant in our area. We are also sensitive that some people who contract the illness are experiencing “long haul” effects, meaning though they are cleared by Public Health as contagious, they have lingering symptoms that they are dealing with.

Instead of “opening up” we find ourselves facing “shutting down” again decisions. Please know the board continues to put safety first.

Thanks to all who took part in the annual meeting last Sunday. The voting will be done by the Board of Management on March 16 at the regular board meeting at 7:00 P.M. by Zoom. Please reach out to a board member before the 16th if you have feedback. Contact Sheila to let her know if you need the link if you hope to attend that meeting. The Board uses Susan’s Zoom account for meetings.
