Hello Grace,
Did you miss the January 31 worship service? Forward it to a friend!
The direct link is:
For there is always light.
If only we’re brave enough to see it.
If only we’re brave enough to be it.
These words come from closing words of “The Hill we Climb,” the poem Amanda Gorman wrote and shared for the US Presidential Inauguration. I add:
For there is always light,
Beyond physical, beyond words, filled with God’s love and grace.
We this community of faith, are brave enough.
We are the light! We share the light!
John 8:12 "I am the light of the world." New International Version
Matthew 5:14 "You are the light of the world."  New International Version
We find ourselves on a rough road, filled with challenges, illness, grieving, fears, shortfalls and all the uncertainties but we have a road, a path. We have each other. We have hope. Yesterday the roads were sun dappled, dry and filled with the promise of spring, amid bird song, warmth and sunshine. Today the roads are blanketed with fresh snow, reminding us of God covering all of creation in God’s protection, love and peace.
We are stronger together! Pray for yourself, for each other, for the needs of this world. Pray for the future of this community of faith and how we will continue to be light. For the road is a glorious gift: rough, smooth, uphill and down, narrow and wide. It is full of God’s love and blessing of creation. Have you read “We Make the Road by Walking?” (2014) It’s a lovely reflection and discussion book by Brian McLaren.

Prayer Squares, Mug Rugs, Book Marks and…
Do you quilt, knit, crochet, sew, do needle craft, like to play with fabric? paper? wood? We are looking to offer some hope and care to remind folks through Lent and spring, and perhaps an on-going ministry of various ways to offer a little something tactile to offer to others. Perhaps they will be in a basket at the church, perhaps something we carry in our pockets, purses or backpacks and pass along to others, perhaps gifts to use as coasters or bases on which to put candles, a friendly book mark, post card, reminder of God’s love, a refrigerator magnet, a “touch point in our pocket.”
Let’s create a gift of grace. We’ll send messages, a verse, hope and some inspiration! Be creative and playful. Even if you can’t make something, share your ideas! Be inspired! Perhaps you are a walker and might want to offer little messages of hope by placing gifts of grace in mailboxes a long the way. Are you in an apartment complex? Perhaps you might put some at the doorways along the corridor. Perhaps you will offer to those you see at appointments, staff in stores or whatever God puts on your hearts. Let’s spread the light of God this season. Perhaps you have samples and ideas of different items you had made or received, or can adapt.
Want to learn something new, something small is often a good starting point! This is an unorganized, organized offering. Got some ideas of what to make? How to instructions? Who you might give a gift of grace to? let me know. Let’s cover our community with messages of hope and prayer. Lift up Grace United Church that we are sharing, caring, praying and continue to make a difference. Send me pictures and I’ll share them.
