This Sunday, June 20, is a day traditionally celebrated as Father's Day.  A day that we have the opportunity to honour those father figures and role models that have taught us, loved us and enlightened our lives in special ways. For many people, it won't be just fathers they celebrate and honour, so I encourage you to think of all those people who have filled such roles in your life - maybe an uncle, a grandfather, a step-father, a mentor, a dear friend, who has journeyed with you.  I know I will be celebrating and honouring many people who filled that place in my life over many years.
This week is the Fourth Sunday After Pentecost and the Indigenous Day of Prayer... the Sunday before National Indigenous Peoples Day (June 21), an opportunity to celebrate First Nations, Inuit, and Metis peoples' values, customs, language, and culture.  We will be blessed in hearing Rev. Sharon sharing a message entitled "Against All Odds" .  Our scripture readings are: 1 Samuel 17:(1a,4-11,19-23), 32-49, Psalm 9:9-20, 2 Corinthians 6:1-13 and Mark 4:35-41.
