Kiva Loans

Kiva (www.kiva.org) connects people, through lending, for the sake of alleviating poverty.  Kiva promotes dignity, accountability and transparency, partnering with microfinance institutions to empower individuals to lend to an entrepreneur across the globe.

Grace Partnership in Faith (GPIF), as part of its mission to make a difference in developing countries, has been participating in the Kiva loan program since 2010.  Loans made originally have just about all been paid back, and we are re-lending small amounts to help individuals start businesses in Honduras, Lebanon, Kenya, and Togo.

The funds that GPIF lends are earned through our participation in the Shop and Support program.  Each week we offer a broad selection of gift cards for shopping and gift-giving needs.  These sell for the value of each card - it is the retailer who donates a small percentage of the value of every card sold to GPIF.  These funds allow us to make small ($75-$100) start-up loans through the Kiva initiative.
